In the heart of Sanlúcar de Barrameda we find a charming, recently opened family-run hotel that we would like to tell you about. Not only because it´s a stunningly beautiful accommodation, but also because you can find Semper Tea teas and tisanes in their rooms.

Located in a typical local house that the owners have lovingly restored, La Casa de las Especias is a place with a lot of personality. It is located close to the beach and the old town, the perfect place to stay and spend a few days enjoying this picturesque place in the province of Cadiz.

Sanlúcar is known for many things.. its manzanilla wine, prawns, typical flamenquito meal and horse races on the beach. It´s also famous for its delightful climate and the neighbouring Doñana National Park… A whole bunch of explorations to which this new accommodation, created by Carmen and Ludger, has now been added: La Casa de las Especias (translated “The Spice House”).

When they contacted us asking for information regarding our organic teas for their family-run guesthouse, we were intrigued by the story behind their venture. It was fascinating to hear about the renovation and project management to re-create this beautiful house.

The result is the perfect combination of the warmth of the old and the comfort of the new. An establishment where our tea menu fits perfectly. We could already see their guests enjoying a relaxing cup of Semper Tea Rooibos on their magnificent roof top terrace.

Semper Tea – Tea service in the hotel room

Each room is named after a spice. Which brings us back to the world of our organic teas for hotels …. Like the “Ginger Room” …it offers our ginger and lemon tisane in a sachet. A vibrant, fruity and naturally stimulating infusion without caffeine.

In the “Vanilla Room” the guests can enjoy a cup of our Pu-Erh tea with vanilla. A smooth and refined tea with the sweet touch of vanilla. The “Cinnamon and Clove Rooms” are reminiscent of our organic Chai tea in a pyramid bag. A black tea flavoured with an unmistakable blend of spices that is an explosion of flavours and aromas. Perfect to drink hot, but also delicious if you feel like having it cold on a delicious spring or summer evening.

The name, La Casa de las Especias, also aims to commemorate the V Centenary of the Magellan-Elcano expedition. The expedition started from this magnificent city on the Costa de la Luz. On their return, they unloaded a veritable booty of spices from the remote territories through which they travelled.
